OZEV Grant for EVHS is coming to an end: Here’s what you need to do

What is the OZEV Grant?

The Office of Zero Emissions Vehicle gives £350 for homeowners and other individuals who want an electric charger installed in their premises. This is a great scheme as you save a significant amount on the cost of installation as this is important infrastructure in your shift towards green mobility.

What is happening to the OZEV Grant?

As of March 31st, 2022, this scheme is being revoked by the office and they will no longer be providing homeowners who want to install an EV charger a grant amount.

Will it affect you?

According to the Office of Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), as of April 2022, the grant is no longer open to homeowners (including people with mortgages) who live in single unit properties such as bungalows and detached, semi-detached or terraced housing. Homeowners in such properties will now have to pay full price for the installation of an EV charger for their off-street parking facilities. The installation charges will increase by £350 making it a 40% increase for them.

However, the government is extending this scheme to blocks of flats, apartments and giving landlords and renters (with owner’s permission) the leeway to apply for the grant. In case you are a landlord, please find more information about the pivot of the grant towards you here.

What do you need to do?

The time is running out. Just like yourself, there will be many other homeowners who might rush to claim the grant from the office. We urge you to get yourself registered for the same as soon as possible.

March 31st, 2022 is the last date that the OZEV will entertain to give out applications for the grant. Although it is the last date, please don’t wait until the last moment in case you want to apply for the same.

The OZEV Grant is a government process and there are quite a few steps in the process that might end up delaying the same.
